  • MFF 2025 The Year of Major Changes

I will say MFF 2025 was The Year of Major Changes. Like the Dealers Den, taking advantage of the full space available in Artist Marketplace. Even allowing artists to set up space in the Dealers area. Frankly something I have been personally pushing for since the end of the pandemic. Why? We already saw the results, everyone did massive business. I even heard Mary Mouse and her “Certified” badges were almost sold out.

Speaking of which on Sunday as a friend was looking for this one dealer. I ran into Artimus Wishfoot, no photo as I didn’t want to be pushy. But they are so nice, did find out that one of the reasons they decided to do IFC was because of the new hotel.

My friend didn’t find that dealer, it seems they sold out. So was quite a few others.

I think one of the biggest changes was to the opening and closing. Frankly most of what I seen are in fact boring. Not this year!!! dumping the table, bringing on musical acts was FANTASTIC.

The Art Show which normally we don’t hear much about did $90,000+ in sales

Planning was nothing short of amazing, bigger panels saw the Convention Center, smaller ones the hotel. The Biggest result less traffic in the Skybridge. Heard it was only shutdown a few times, and despite the snow many did take the outside route.

We did have escalator shutdowns, a few times. Overworked motor from what I heard.

Ran in to some paramedics who were on standby. There is something to be said when they say it’s been quiet. I only heard of 1 ambulance run, and that was due to drinking too mush.

I call it the elephant in the room and no not the one from Zootopia 2. Which was playing at the nearby theater.

No we only had a 125 bump in attendance, why same thing hit Anthrocon a few years back, who btw also made major changes…. will this effect numbers. Like we say in Chicago “Wait to next year”.

  • Protogen Feeding Frenzy @MFF 2025

    Protogen Feeding Frenzy @MFF 2025

A good friend “Blue Screen” had this wild idea. While they were at MFF this year, they track down protogen and give away old computer parts, very similar to a meme they saw. My friend made it very clear that they were junk parts.

He took an entire box of junk parts.

Now for the amazing thing, he managed to give them all away, everyone took for what it was something silly.

You might be wondering why, many already had plans.

According to “Blue Screen”, they will be doing this again next year. Keep an eye out for us at MFF 2026

  • Pawbert Lynxley and Kitty Cat chosen as furry characters of the year (kind of)

Pawbert Lynxley and Kitty Cat chosen as furry characters of the year (kind of)

furryoftheyear.jpgMembers of the furry fandom on the social media site Twitter (or X if you’re feeling mean) have chosen Pawbert Lynxley of Zootopia 2 as the recipient of the 2025 Furry of the Year Award. However, the choice has not been without some contreversy, as there is a strong contingent of fans of the bat character Sonar from the episodic video game Dispatch are also claiming the prize.

Meanwhile, other Twitter furries, noting a lack of a similar “award” for female characters, have offered up their take on the last nine years for the other gender. Though the 2025 pick, Kitty Kat of The Bad Guys 2, is much less contreversial than the male pick, there has been much less agreement on who the previous years’ recipients should be.

Now, let’s back up a minute, and point out that there is no such thing as the Furry of the Year Award. The male version started out as sort of joke response to the popularity of the character Nick Wilde from the original Zootopia, but didn’t really take off until two years later, when the character of Haida from the anime Aggretsuko became popular enough that even the American dub’s voice actor for the character, Ben Diskin, took notice. Since then, various people have offered up their choice for “furry of the year”, and eventually a consensus has been more or less reached, despite no vote taking place or jury meeting to decide.

  • MFF 2025 WOW!!!

    MFF 2025 WOW!!!

I can’t believe I am saying this but MFF 2025 was WILD. From the Opening to Closing it was one of the best conventions I ever been.

From something simple as the artwork to the new Dealers area. Which strangely enough had a common story. They walk in and immediately their jaw hits the concrete floor. It was BIG

Over 400 Dealers and 5 restaurants. If you could not find something, you simply weren’t looking

At Closing they mentioned the Art Show had over $90000 + in sales. One dealer mentioned that over all the Dealers sold more than $200,000 in sales. Mind you all of this is going directly to furry businesses. We support one another.

Those who decided not to come for whatever the reason. Just plain messed out. The panels were simply great, many were outstanding.

One great one that a lot misses was FurFest District Court Hosted by Bandit was simply wild. Think of a fake court show done for laughs, with fake crimes and even meaningless decision. It was great.

Say what you will about con themes, but the one for 2026

They even had a Marty McFly fursuiter during closing

The 2026 theme has literally one of the best posters EVER!!!
